We have previously made a lasagna with a 'layer' of béchamel sauce and cheese. A serious layer, so to speak 🙂 That's absolutely delicious, but not very healthy. That's why we omitted the béchamel sauce this time. Of course not the cheese, because it just has to be on it!

We use this for this lasagnathis recipe for bolognese sauce. If you still have a portion of it in the freezer, you can simply use it.

You can make the lasagna a day in advance and put it in the refrigerator. When you get home from work, all you have to do is put it in the oven. And another advantage: you hardly have to clean up anything after you've eaten 😉

This is what you need (four people)

  • 1 large onion
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 400 grams of Italian vegetables
  • 70 grams of tomato puree
  • 500 grams of sieved tomatoes
  • Italian spices
  • 300g minced beef
  • 120 g lasagna sheets
  • 120 g grated cheese

This is how you make it

Preparation time: 30 minutes + 35 minutes oven time

Make debolognese sauce

  • Coarsely chop the onion and finely chop the garlic.
  • Take a large pan and gently fry the onion and garlic in a little olive oil.
  • Add the Italian vegetables to the onion and garlic and let them fry gently for a few minutes.
  • Add the tomato puree and let it fry gently for about 2 minutes while stirring well. This way you deacidify the tomato puree and give it more flavor. Make sure that the tomato puree does not burn.
  • Now add the strained tomatoes.
  • Stir two teaspoons of Italian herbs and some salt and pepper into the sauce.
  • Fry the minced meat in a frying pan. Do this over a nice high heat so that it actually bakes and does not simmer. Season the minced meat with some salt and pepper and add it to the sauce in the pan.
  • Let the sauce cook for another 20 minutes. Taste every now and then to see if the vegetables are ready. An additional advantage of tasting in between is that you can also add some Italian herbs, salt and pepper if necessary.

Build the lasagna

  • Start with a quarter of the bolognese sauce.
  • Place 60 g lasagna sheets on top.
  • Then another quarter of the bolognese sauce.
  • 60gr lasagna sheets.
  • The last part of the bolognese sauce.
  • The grated cheese.
  • Place the lasagna in the oven at 180 degrees for about 35 minutes.

Tip a trick

  • If you find the sauce too thick, you can add some water or stock until you reach the desired thickness.
  • For four people you need an oven dish of approximately 2 liters. You can easily test this by checking with a measuring cup whether two liters of water fit in the bowl.
  • Check in advance whether you can manage to place two layers of 60g lasagna sheets in the dish.
  • Nice to make an extra layer of zucchini. To do this, cut long slices with the cheese slicer. The rest of the zucchini is then simply diced into the bolognese sauce.
  • You can of course also use loose vegetables instead of a bag of pre-cut vegetables.

    • You have 2 layers of a quarter of the sauce, and finally you put the rest of the sauce on top. Enjoy it!

    Ever made lasagna once but the sheets remained hard?

    • We actually add the leaves like this. They will then be done (and soft) when you take the lasagna out of the oven.
